"It is crucial to acknowledge that the thinning of the ozone layer threatens our environment and our existence. We must, therefore, prioritize efforts to mitigate climate change and reduce its impact on the ozone layer," the PS said.

Eng Ng'eno spoke today at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) in Nakuru County during this year's World Ozone Day national commemoration. The day was celebrated ahead of the 35th Meeting of Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, commonly known as MOP35. ozone

The PS reiterated the commitment of Kenya to multilateralism, stewardship and sustainable development as the host country of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters stationed in Nairobi, the venue for MOP35 scheduled for next month

"As part of our broad ozone and climate action agenda the Ministry continues supporting Kenyaโ€™s value chains, including training institutions to acquire appropriate technologies and capacities for sustainable ozone and climate management," PS Ng'eno reiterated.

The commemoration was hosted by RVIST Nakuru led by Principal Mr Sammy Chemoiwa and graced by representatives from development partners leadership of the Nakuru County led by Kuresoi North MP Hon Alfred Mutai among others. #OzoneDay2023
