World Wetlands Day in Narok

 

  1. World Wetlands Day: February 2nd - Coordinated by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
  2. International Day of Biological Diversity: May 22nd - Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
  3. World Wildlife Day: March 3rd - Led by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
  4. World Water Day: March 22nd - Organized by the UN-Water Secretariat.
  5. International Day of Forests: March 21st - Led by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
  6. Earth Day Date: April 22nd Organizer: Earth Day Network
  7. Tree Planting Day: June 1st - Organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MEF) along with various NGOs and community groups.
  8. World Environment Day: June 5th - Hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in collaboration with national governments and NGOs. The theme and host country change annually. Kenya actively participates in this event with local celebrations.
  9. World Oceans Day Date: June 8th Organizer: The Ocean Project and World Ocean Network

  10. World Desertification and Drought Day Date: June 17th Organizer: United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

  11. World Clean-Up Day: September 15th - Led by the Let's Do It World network, with local partners coordinating activities in Kenya.
  12. Maasai Mara Day: July 1st - Celebrated by the Maasai community within the Maasai Mara National Reserve and by conservation organizations working in the area.
  13. World Lion Day: August 10th - Organized by the Big Cat Action Group and the Wildlife Photography Fund.
  14. International Day for the Elimination of Illegal Logging, Wildlife Trafficking and Organized Crime: July 20th - UNODC and TRAFFIC lead this global observance, with Kenyan authorities implementing activities
  15. World Elephant Day Date: August 12th, Organizer: Various conservation organizations

  16. National Bird Watch Week: Last week of November - Led by BirdLife Kenya, with events and activities organized across the country.
  17. Various Conservation-Based Events: Throughout the year, numerous events are held by NGOs, research institutions, and community groups related to specific species, ecosystems, or conservation initiatives.
